      Metropolitan Museum of ArtFounded in 1870, and located in New York City, New York, the Metropolitan Museum’s collection now contains more than two million works of art from all points of the compass, ancient through modern times.       MFAH: the Museum of Fine Arts, HoustonPublisher -— Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. The "largest art museum in America south of Chicago, west of Washington, D.C., and east of Los Angeles," MFAH is housed in several buildings. These include two house museums: decorative arts in Rienzi, and the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens.       Philadelphia Museum of ArtThis huge museum has large collections of art from all over the world covering prehistory to the present. It also has a separate museum of Rodin sculptures. The web site allows virtual tours and has animated and interactive features.
      Rijks Museum – AmsterdamThis museum is home to an art collection that features over 400 great masterpieces of painting. It houses the world’s largest collection of paintings from the Dutch Golden Era, as well as all kinds of decorative arts. The museum plans to break with tradition and integrate its collections so that all art works from a period will be shown together instead of separated by genre.       The Uffizi GalleryThe Uffizi Gallery, founded by the De Medici family in Florence, Italy, in 1581, is one of the oldest museums in the world.
